Samsung Confirms Another Major Galaxy S24 Feature

Samsung Confirms a New S24 ULtra feature

The South Korean tech giant is gearing up to unveil its latest smartphone lineup, which includes the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S2+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, in early 2024. While the usual launch timeframe falls in mid-February just before the Mobile World Congress, there are leaks that a January release date is also under deliberation.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Will Feature a  Satellite Connectivity

LSI CEO Park Yong-In revealed great news during his presentation at the Semiconductor Expo 2023. Yong-In confirmed that the Galaxy S24 smartphones will be equipped with satellite connectivity capabilities designed for emergency services.

This feature isn’t entirely groundbreaking for consumer smartphones. Apple had introduced a comparable service in their iPhone 14 lineup the previous year, which has been carried over to the subsequent iPhone 15 series. Other smartphone manufacturers have also embraced this feature, such as Huawei’s P60 series, which enables two-way messaging using satellite communications.

If the rumors are true and the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus have the Exynos 2400 chipset, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it’s unclear whether they will support NTN communication.

The Exynos 5300 modem is likely to be in the less expensive Galaxy S24 models, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra might support Snapdragon Satellite. These are two different technologies, and Samsung would need to make sure all Galaxy S24 models can work with satellites.

Another Major Samsung Galaxy S24 Features

Samsung is rumored to include the Ultra HDR feature in its upcoming Galaxy S24 device. This feature allows you to capture and view HDR images and videos on compatible phones. The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are expected to have super bright screens, up to 2,500 nits, making them great for displaying HDR content.

HDR In Android 14

Currently, most Android phones display HDR content as regular SDR, but Android 14 is changing that by introducing a standard way to show HDR media on HDR-capable screens.

Latest Exynos 2400 Or Snapdragon Gen 3 Processor

The Galaxy S24 and S24+ are said to use the Exynos 2400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, depending on the market. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will exclusively use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. They will come with 12GB of RAM and various storage options. All three phones will run Android 14 with One UI 6 and receive at least four major Android updates.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra might have a titanium body, while the other two will use aluminum. All three will be IP68-rated for dust and water resistance and have stereo speakers, in-display fingerprint readers, and fast USB Type-C ports.

What About The S24 Ultra Camera

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is rumored to have a 200 MP primary camera, while the S24 and S24+ could have a 50MP one. They’ll all have additional cameras for wide-angle, telephoto, and selfies. Battery sizes will range from 4,000mAh to 5,000mAh, with fast and reverse wireless charging support. The charging speeds will vary, with the S24 getting 25W and the others 45W.

Conclusion

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 lineup is generating considerable anticipation with its promising features and specifications. The introduction of the Ultra HDR feature, which offers superior image and video quality, is a great addition, along with the potential for exceptionally bright screens. The choice between the Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors, depending on the market, provides versatility in performance.
